When Bacterial Vaginosis has been diagnosed by a the doctor he will in most cases  prescribe antibiotics. These antibiotics will either be in cream form or in some cases have to be taken internally. It is a fact that almost 50%  of  patients treated with antiobiotics will have  BV again within 12 months! During future outbreaks of this infection the doctor will again give the patient more antibiotics so the cycle will be repeated.

Another bad effect of the use of antiobiotics to treat BV is that it is common for the medication to casue  a yeast infection. Due to  the fact that so many patients have a  of recurrance of the infection this is the ultimate  proof that treating BV with standard antibiotics is flawed. It is not uncommon for  the patient to find herself in a persistant cycle of  going from one temporary cure to another wihtout really getting to a long term solution.

BV  is a tricky condition where we need to get to grips with the root of the problem and many suggest  using  a holistic approach. Just treating the symptoms with antibiotics is not a solution for a long term cure!
